Pitshill Shell House, West Sussex

A circular shellhouse built c1810 in the grounds of a private house near Petworth was, after 200 years in damp conditions, in desperate need of restoration. Katherine painstakingly cleaned and restored the shellwork which decorates the internal walls of the building, infilling gaps as much as possible with original shells, minerals, fossils and corals which had been salvaged from the shellhouse floor over the years. Katherine then designed and created the shellwork for the previously undecorated domed ceiling.
